Christmas to New Years

On Christmas Eve, I was excited to have our own little Christmas just the two of us. First, we went on a little Christmas walk through the park. It was beautiful, even in the winter. That was really nice.

Later that evening, we sang Christmas songs, and read the Christmas story in Luke 2. Right as we were just about wrapping up our evening festivities, I started to feel achey, and a sore throat. To make a long story short, I got the flu and spent all of Christmas day in bed. What a way to spend the holiday. Tomás was sweet, and brought the presents up the next morning to our bedroom, so I could open them in bed. Needless to say, I don't have any pictures from Christmas day for that reason.

Now it's already New Year's Eve and I'm still fighting a little bit of a cough/cold/earache. Hopefully, by tonight I'll feel a little bit better. Jessica Prindle invited us to a party, and we're going to be the bartenders. We spend yesterday collecting all of the items we'll need, and testing out all sorts of virgin drinks for the party. I'm excited!

As I look back on this year, we had many ups and downs, but a lot of things to be thankful for. Tomás broke his ankle in June and is still recovering completely from that break. Being his first time breaking a bone, it was pretty bad. I, myself, have never broken a bone, and it was heartbreaking to see him in so much pain. Tomás student taught, and graduated from college this month. He received a full-time job offer from Skyview High School, and we're looking into purchasing a home currently. If all goes well, we'll be moving into a new home at the beginning of February! The future looks bright and we're excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.

Christmas Parties

I love the holidays. Christmas music, parties with friends, decorations. Even though it's just the two of us, I had fun decorating our apartment all Christmas-y.

On December 1st, we attended a, ugly sweater Christmas party that Jules & Seve hosted. It was also a white elephant exchange and we scored Phase ten! Woo. Jules made some yummy snacks and we had a good time. Their newborn baby is the cutest.

A week or so later, Tomás and I went with our friends Jason & Samantha Dodge to the Caldwell Night Light Parade. It's kinda like the Starlight Parade that Portland puts on in the Summer, but on a smaller scale. We had a fun time watching the lit up floats roll by.

It's only a few days before Christmas and I'm finally done Christmas shopping! I'm excited. All my packages are sent and I bought some egg nog today for the first time this year! YUM.

BIG NEWS!

Tomás just got hired on at Skyview high school FULL TIME!!!!!! WOOOOOO!!! We are totally stoked about it. No more poor college students anymore! We are real life legit living now. Yeah.

Anyway, just wanted to spread the news. We're pretty excited about it. (Obviously) So for now, we're staying in Nampa for awhile. Yay! Don't worry Portlanders, we're planning a trip up there this summer FOR SURE. I miss it. (and my two beautiful sisters that are there too, of course!)

Thanksgiving

This year, we kind of had a double thanksgiving.

Tomás' family came into town the week before thanksgiving for one last hurrah, since Jared is leaving on his mission December 7th.

We went shopping at the Boise Towne Square, shopped for some things for Jared, and ate at Panda afterwards. We did a lot of hanging out at our apartment, and playing games.

We also went to go see Twilight the day after it came out. Let's just say, it wasn't the best movie in the world. Yikes. We still had fun being together though. :)

(Went bella style to the showing with my converse)

We had a good ol' time.

On Sunday, we had our own little thanksgiving dinner in our tiny kitchen.

On the actual holiday, we were invited over to the Prindles! We spend thanksgiving with them, and it was delightful. Their five girls are a bunches of fun.

Jess did a great job with the dinner. We made these lovely crab deviled eggs and the yams to contribute.

Drew made these cute table settings for everyone!

All in all, we had a deluxe and awesome holiday to spend with family. It was grrrrreat!
