14 Days of Valentines: 10, 11 &12

Hey everyone! I can't believe my 14 days of valentines is almost over. It's truly been so much fun surprising Tomás with all these little goodies or keepsakes. My next post will be after Valentine's Day, and that will finish it up!

Tomás has this love for sweet treats, esspecially Hostess or Little Debbie. I know, I know... they are soooo fattening. But, I thought I would indulge this, since I've already eaten and made other treats this month. I bought him a box of "Be My Valentine" cupcakes, where 10 come in a box. They're chocolate heart-shaped treats. He was very excited about this one. It worked out great, because that night we were going to a Stake Valentine's dance. So, I asked if he would be my valentine!

On the 11th, I printed out "I love you" in 11 different languages and placed them throughout the house for him to find. Languages is one of Tomás' passions, so he had a fun time trying to decipher what languages they were. It was a Saturday morning, so I woke up before him and did all this while he was still asleep, hoping I wouldn't wake him up. Then, I placed the note on his chest, and gave him a kiss to wake up and start his scavenger hunt before I had to head out to my dance class. I actually got a shot of him sleeping, which was pretty cool! I can't believe he didn't wake up.

I really wanted to get that Papa Murphy's heart shaped pizza for one of these days, but I just didn't know which one. I figured there were at least 12 pepperoni on it, and so I decided I would do it for the 12th. (Even though, there's more like 30+ pepperoni). Oh well, this was the only day I struggled with the most to use the number. Since the 12th was a Sunday, I wanted something yummy we could enjoy, and then I wouldn't have to cook! So, it was a win-win. On Saturday night, we had band practice, and I knew Papa Murphy's closed at 9. So, over halfway through, the band started to plink around on a new song (which didn't have vocals, and that meant I wasn't needed for a time). That was my perfect segway to run and grab the pizza. So, that's what I did, and Tomás had no idea. :)

14 Days of Valentines: 7, 8, & 9

For the 7th, I bought a 7 oz bag of Milano cookies for him to enjoy. 7 is a hard number to incorporate, so I was just glad I found something that worked. Any ideas what you would do for the 7th?

On the 8th, I wrote an 8-lined 8-syllabed poem. For now, we'll keep that poem just between the two of us. :) I was pretty excited about this one. He was too.

On the 9th, I bought a few king size candy bars, so that the total cookie-age would be 9, and I left those on the bed to find later tonight. I try to put his gift in a different place each day, so it's surprise.

I really enjoy February, cause I get to make some yummy Valentine's treats! This month I've already made some chocolate covered strawberries, and strawberry cupcakes with chocolate frosting and red sprinkles! So good and so fun!

14 Days of Valentines: 4, 5, & 6

For the fourth, at first I wasn't sure what to do. While I was shopping at Walmart for a few things, I spotted a sale on these Coca-Cola t-shirts for a dollar. Coke is Tomás' absolute favorite, so I thought he might appreciate that. I wrapped it up, and in the note I said, "This is just "four" you!" I woke up before him on Saturday morning, and led the hearts from our bedroom downstairs to his gift. I was glad I did it without waking him and ruining the surprise. It worked out alright! He modeled the t-shirt for me afterwards too.

On the 5th, I typed up five things I love about Tomás, and printed out the list for him. Of course there's much more than five things I love about him, but I just listed a few. I used the hearts again, as usual. Sunday was a relaxing day, so I thought my little note would suffice for that day.

Today, I made a six-sided date dice with ideas for us to do on date night. We really have a tough time deciding sometimes, so I thought that would be useful. I came up with six ideas, and printed them on a dice template that I cut out and made. It turned out alright, I thought. This time,  I was lucky I had it ready because Tomás came home for lunch around noon, and he got to open his gift then. '

14 days of Valentines: 1 through 3

Sooo... this month I decided to do that cutsie 14 days of Valentine's for Tomás. I haven't ever done it before, so this is my first time. So far, it's harder than I thought trying to surprise him. Especially if it's on a day where he's off work.

On the 1st, I used an online program to create a personalized crossword puzzle for him to solve. He loves words, and word games, so I knew he would love it. I made it pretty easy for him. :) I also cut out different sized hearts, to lead up to the area where the little gift would be. I decided I would most likely re-use these, and I did again today (the 3rd).

On the 2nd, I bought two candy bars, one had nuts and toffee in it (his favorite), and the other was caramel with milk chocolate. My little note said something like, "One's nutty, and the other sweet... just like you! and just how I like it." Haha. We're both a little nutty, I think. It was a little harder to me to surprise him that day, since I didn't have it ready before he came home from school. He ran outside to grab the mail, and I slipped it on top of one of his schoolwork folders he was working on. Voila! I still surprised him, which was nice.

Today's the 3rd, and so I bought three different mini packages of hot chocolates, that were three different flavors, and put them inside one of our mugs. I used the hearts again to lead into the kitchen, where I placed the mug. In the note, I said something along the lines of, "Hot chocolate warms my heart, just like you." I had to work around noon, so I left it there for him to find when he returned from school, and that worked out pretty well. When he came to pick me up from work, he said. "Well... you warm my soul!"
